USD Coin Expands with Sui Network Integration: Boosting Blockchain Interoperability
USD Coin (USDC), recognized as the second-largest stablecoin by market capitalization, is set to be introduced on the Sui network, a layer-1 blockchain. This announcement comes from the CEO of Circle, the organization behind USDC. The move signifies a significant expansion for USDC, which will now operate on more than 15 blockchain platforms.
The integration of USDC on Sui will utilize the Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP), a decentralized utility that simplifies the transfer process of USDC across different blockchain networks. This is accomplished through a methodology involving the native burning and minting of tokens. Sui, which launched in 2023, aims to enhance the development of applications within the Web3 ecosystem. It leverages the Move programming language, allowing for efficient parallel transaction execution.
