Tyler Winklevoss Donated $1M to Donald Trump for His Reelection Bid
More funds continue to come in to support the re-election of former United States President Donald Trump, with Gemini co-founders Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss donating Bitcoin (BTC) worth $1 million.
On June 20, Tyler Winklevoss revealed the donation in a post via X, noting the donation of 15.47 BTC to his reelection bid and reasons he will be voting for Trump in the forthcoming presidential election in the U.S.
Tyler mentioned the Biden administration’s open declaration of war against cryptocurrency and their weaponization of several government agencies to destroy the industry by bullying, harassing, and suing the good actors. He said they have exhibited an “unprecedented abuse of power wielded entirely for twisted political gain” to sacrifice innovation.
He said, “there is nothing the Biden Administration can do or say at this point to pretend otherwise,” noting that the administration weaponized the banking system against cryptocurrency firms and their principals, as well as weaponized the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) against cryptocurrency.
Tyler noted that the OCC and the FDIC guided and instructed banks behind closed doors not to bank cryptocurrency firms, threatening banks that do not follow orders. “These agencies have God-mode over banks because they can yank their license or FDIC deposit insurance at any time citing “safety and soundness” concerns. The Biden Administration has dusted off the playbook and has been running it at full speed against the crypto industry,” reads the statement.
Further, he explained how the administration failed to provide regulatory guidance and rules for the cryptocurrency industry, allowing the SEC to claim that existing rules are applicable.
“By taking the ridiculous position that almost every crypto is a security, the Biden SEC has given itself the plausibility and carte blanche to bring litigation against any crypto project and company in the United States. The game is simple. Make it impossible to comply, then sue everyone for not complying,” said Tyler.
He explained how the Gemini crypto exchange helped people to gain financial freedom and fulfil their dreams, concluding that “President Donald J. Trump is the pro-Bitcoin, pro-crypto, and pro-business choice.”
