Gemini is Now Facilitating Contributions for U.S. Political Candidates Who Support Crypto

On June 20, cryptocurrency exchange Gemini announced its facilitation of cryptocurrency contributions for candidates in the upcoming U.S. elections who support cryptocurrency. According to a post via X, the crypto exchange noted that any United States campaign that is interested in accepting cryptocurrency donations should contact Gemini so they can work together. “We’re proud to empower pro-crypto policymakers in 2024,” said the crypto exchange.

The platform’s announcement came a few minutes after Gemini co-founder Tyler Winklevoss revealed that he had donated 15.47 BTC valued at $1 million to the reelection bid of former president Donald Trump, noting reasons he will be voting for him in the forthcoming election.

Tyler mentioned the Biden administration’s open declaration of war against cryptocurrency and their weaponization of several government agencies to destroy the industry by bullying, harassing, and suing the good actors.

He mentioned how he lost an investment firm and several bank accounts because he owns cryptocurrency, expressing how the OCC and the FDIC guided and instructed banks behind closed doors not to bank cryptocurrency firms, threatening banks that do not follow orders.

“It’s time to take our country back. It’s time for the crypto army to send a message to Washington. That attacking us is political suicide. This is why I will be casting my vote for President Trump in November and I hope you will too,” said Tyler.

Companies across the crypto space have been working to support politicians who support crypto in their election bids. Firms like Coinbase are engaging in political mobilization to ensure the election of pro-crypto politicians. A few weeks ago, the “Stand with Crypto” political action committee (PAC) supported by Coinbase said it had gathered 1 million advocate signatures from pro-crypto voters.

Recently, executives from CleanSpark, Marathon Digital, and Riot Platforms came up with a non-profit voter education organization called Bitcoin Voter Project to educate people about Bitcoin, although it is non-partisan and yet to endorse candidates. Likewise, a crypto super PAC called Fairshake obtained donations worth millions of dollars and launched ads against anti-crypto political candidates.
