Democrats Believe Biden Beating Trump Unlikely – Strategas
After the release of a poll after his shaky debate performance indicating fellow Democrats think President Joe Biden won’t beat his rival Donald Trump, uncertainty over whether he will stand for reelection is growing.
Biden has said his performance during the presidential debate last Thursday wasn’t good and blamed this weakness on him being tired after two overseas trips earlier last month.
He is however facing mounting questions about his reelection efforts, with the confidence of fellow Dems apparently severely shaken as predictions after the debate showed a substantial move in favor of former U.S. President Donald Trump and a Republican win.
Analysts at Strategas said in a note yesterday that Biden had the ultimate firewall: he can remove himself from the race at this stage as the elected Democratic nominee.
The firewall was however crumbling. Fierce defenders of the president, such as James Clyburn and Nancy Pelosi, both voiced doubts yesterday. It was also reported last night that ex-President Obama was concerned.
Strategas also said the Democrats’ internal polling showed Trump would win 358 electoral votes and placing the House in jeopardy.
The poll showed Biden would likely lose in all the Magnificent 7 Swing States, as well as New Mexico, New Hampshire, and Virginia.
